Personal instruction with Mayda
Advanced study asks a pianist to bring many skills together: dependable technique, clear reading, thoughtful interpretation, and the ability to sustain a prepared program. Lessons create space to examine those details and connect them to the character of each piece.
Mayda is affiliated with the American College of Musicians / National Guild of Piano Teachers and works with advanced students preparing for annual Guild auditions and evaluations. Preparation is shaped by the student's level, current repertoire, and readiness.
A performance goal can give practice direction, but the daily work remains central. Students need time to refine difficult passages, listen critically, and become comfortable playing a piece as a whole. Mayda also guides students preparing for recitals and other auditions.
Meet your teacherBetween lessons
Tell Mayda what you are studying, your previous performance experience, and any audition date you have in mind. A realistic plan depends on the program and the time available to prepare it. Participation, requirements, and timing should be discussed directly before committing to an audition.
The introductory appointment is a chance to discuss your goals and current level. Bring the music you are working on and questions about preparation so Mayda can recommend a suitable next step.
Regular lessons are available in 30- or 60-minute sessions. Mayda will contact you personally to arrange the introductory appointment after you send your request.
Before you begin
The academy offers this preparation for motivated advanced students. Mayda can discuss whether an audition goal is appropriate after learning about the student's current level and repertoire.
No. Guild preparation is one pathway within the academy's private instruction. Beginners and students with other musical goals can pursue lessons without preparing for Guild auditions.
Yes. Mayda provides guidance on repertoire, stage readiness, and performance habits. Share the specific event and any requirements with her so she can discuss the preparation involved.
