Personal instruction with Mayda
A child's first piano lessons should make the instrument feel approachable. At Bustamante Music Academy, individual instruction gives Mayda time to notice how a student responds, explain a new idea in different ways, and revisit a skill before moving ahead.
Reading notes, feeling a steady pulse, and developing comfortable technique grow together. Students work toward manageable goals rather than simply moving from one song to the next. The aim is to build understanding as well as confidence at the keyboard.
Children with previous lessons are welcome, too. Mayda can listen to what they already play and discuss the next stage with the family. Lessons and parent communication are available in English or Spanish.

A dependable place to practice and an appropriate instrument help a child return to the week's work. Ask Mayda which assignments deserve attention and how you can encourage practice without taking over. A manageable routine is more useful than leaving everything for the day before the next lesson.
The trial gives your child a chance to work with Mayda while you discuss readiness, previous experience, and what a realistic practice routine could look like at home.
Regular lessons are available in 30- or 60-minute sessions. Mayda will contact you personally to arrange the introductory appointment after you send your request.
Before you begin
Readiness varies. The introductory appointment is an opportunity to discuss your child's interest, attention, and ability to follow simple directions with Mayda, rather than choosing a starting point by age alone.
Students need access to an appropriate instrument for regular practice. Before purchasing one, discuss your setup with Mayda so you can choose an instrument that supports the student's learning.
Regular lessons are offered in 30- or 60-minute sessions. Mayda can discuss which length suits your child's level and learning needs during the consultation.
